Physiotherapy is an allied health care profession concerned with human function and movement and maximizing physical potential. It is concerned with identifying and maximizing quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habitation and rehabilitation. It uses physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being, taking into account variations in health status. It is science-based, committed to extending, applying, evaluating and reviewing the evidence that underpins and informs its practice and delivery. The exercise of clinical judgment and informed interpretation is at its core. Physiotherapists utilize a range of techniques and interventions, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, electrical modalities, and patient education, to help individuals recover from injuries, manage chronic pain, and enhance their overall well-being. By designing personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs, physiotherapists aim to alleviate pain, improve strength and flexibility, promote optimal movement patterns, and enhance functional abilities. Furthermore, they play a vital role in the prevention of future injuries and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle through education and advice on posture, ergonomics, and exercise.
